In order to assist with the smooth-running of your golf day please note the following:-

Confirmation

Please return your booking form as soon as possible in order that your requirements can be checked carefully. The booking will then be confirmed. The Organiser MUST confirm to the Club final numbers not later than seven working days prior to the date of the event, and whether or not your group includes PGA players/club secretaries (together with their names).

Deposit

A non-refundable deposit of £100 should accompany your booking form.

Numbers

Groups are normally of between 15 and 60 persons although more can be catered for in the Dining Room. While changes in numbers can occur close to the date of the event we would ask you to confirm these as they happen. Once final numbers have been confirmed you will be charged for the food element should they change on the day. The Club cannot guarantee to accommodate more players than originally booked but will always endeavour to accept small increases.

Generally, a minimum group number of 15 is required in order to offer a carvery lunch.

Play on the Course

Denham is not a course for beginners and members of your society should have an official handicap or play to a competent standard. All players are expected to observe the etiquette of golf. In particular slow play can mar the enjoyment of others on the golf course and therefore it is important that players are encouraged to avoid this at all times. As a general rule fourball rounds should take no longer than 4 hours, threeballs around 3¾ hours and 2 balls not be longer than 3½ hours.

Tee reservations

As a guide the normal society tee reservations are as follows:-

Morning
(2 balls) - 1st tee available from 8.30am (3/4* balls) -10th tee available from 8.30am

Afternoon
(2 balls) - 1st tee prior to 2.45pm / (3/4*balls) 10th tee prior to 2.30pm

*NB. 4 ball should be played in Stableford format only.

Every effort will be made to accommodate groups who wish to play outside these times. N.B. You are advised to ensure that the gap between first and last groups does not extend beyond 1 hour otherwise meal times can become excessively drawn out.

To permit Club members’ some access to the course tee reservations will depend on the size of the society. 20 Players or fewer usually have tee reservations at one starting hole. More players normally warrant 2 or more starting holes or even a shotgun start. It is essential that these are strictly adhered to.

Tees
Societies use the club’s yellow tees unless prior arrangements are made to use the white tees.

Nearest the Pin and Longest Drive markers can be put out on respective holes.

Buggies

Buggies are available for those with medical needs. Contact the Professional’s Shop (golf.shop@btinternet.com or Tel: 01895 832801).

Club Professional/Prizes

Our Professional - Mark Lawrie (Tel: 01895 832801/mark.lawrie@denhamgolfclub.co.uk) has a well-stocked shop and offers generous discounts to societies for their prizes.

Club Rules

A good standard of behaviour and dress is to be maintained at all times.

Clubhouse Attire
Our normal requirement for society male visitors is jackets, shirts and ties in the Dining Room.

If your society is playing 2 rounds of golf and you wish to take up the smart casual clothing policy in the Dining Room please liaise with the Secretary’s Office to ensure there are no club matches scheduled or another society playing only one round of golf where the formal jacket and tie policy is being upheld.

In extremely warm weather there will be a concession on jackets.

Similarly, when a snack lunch is agreed in the Club Lounge (Sheridan Room) informal dress is permitted.

Please note that there is no smoking in the Clubhouse by law and the club does not permit smoking in the area of the walled garden in front of the Clubhouse.

Course
Appropriate golf clothing should be worn (golf shoes, shirts with collars, golf trousers or tailored shorts]. N.B. While long socks are preferred, players wearing shorts may wear white sports socks which cover the ankle.

Mobile Phones are prohibited in the Clubhouse or anywhere on the golf course.

Security and Liability

Valuables lockers (coin operated) are provided in the Changing Room. The club cannot be held responsible for physical harm caused to any person using the club nor for the loss or damage to their property. Please ensure that players in your group are aware of this.

Catering and Functions

Opening/Closing
Please advise your guests that the Clubhouse opens at 8.00am unless special arrangements have been agreed in advance. The club closes normally at 8.00pm (6.00pm during winter) unless an evening meal has been arranged.

Society catering normally includes a carvery lunch, but particular requirements can be accommodated by prior arrangement (see booking form). Lunch is served at a mutually agreeable time between 12.30 and 2.00pm.

Halfway House

There is a fully fitted catering facility beside the first and tenth tees and can be manned to serve refreshments to visitors. A £20 surcharge covers the extra cost of servicing the facility.

Financial Arrangements

You should agree your final account [including Bar Tab if used] at the end of the day by prior reference to Janet Smith. THE CLUB’S PREFERRED METHOD OF PAYMENT IS BY DEBIT CARD OR BANK TRANSFER. HOWEVER, CHEQUES WILL BE ACCEPTED. The invoice will include VAT, but excludes an optional staff gratuity.

Accounts not paid on the day must be settled within 10 working days. Failure to do so will result in interest being charged at a rate of 5% per week.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE CLUB WILL CHARGE FOR LUNCHES/TEAS OF ANY GUESTS WHO FAIL TO ATTEND ON THE DAY.
